VICTIM ADVOCATES AND SYSTEM NAVIGATORS

MANDATE: Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is a non-profit, community-based program that provides immediate crisis assistance through our professional staff who work in partnership with the police, emergency services and other community-based agencies.

OUR MISSION - We work to prevent violence through awareness and education. We collaborate with community agencies to provide trauma-informed support and advocacy for every person in the District of Temiskaming who has experienced crime or sudden tragedy.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: Victim Services of Temiskaming & District is governed by a Voluntary Community Board, consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and additional community members. The Board's roles and responsibilities are guided by a set of By-Laws.

Our staff consists of an Executive Director, Victim Support Workers and Responders in the Temiskaming and Kirkland Lake areas. Our Team provides on-scene and telephone support, which is dispatched after business hours by emergency services.

Victims and their families requiring immediate support are referred to Victim Services while Emergency Personnel and the Police are on-scene. Victims, survivors, families and communities who have been traumatized as a result of crime and/or tragedy can seek support without police involvement by calling the Victim Services office during regular business hours.

To obtain additional information about Victim Services, please contact our office at 705-647-0096 or 705-568-2154. For emergencies, please call 911. Our services are confidential, free of charge and available in French and English.
